About My Career:

I taught primarily 4 & 5 grades for 35 years. I was very active in my teaching career in a variety of positions of responsibility, for our building as well as the district.

Redford Memories:

The wonderful electives available. Curriculum today is so programed to meet testing, the students no longer have the opportunity to take classes such as knitting, silversmithing, jewelry making, and retailing to name a few.

Modern dance class

Swim class with those awful swilm suits

The wonderful dances with LIVE music!

Meeting at lockers with friends.

The long walk to school with friends. Arriiving with red sock because the color of our penny loafers bled through after walking in the snow.

Finally getting girl cheer leaders, but Mr. Clark said the skirts had to be long.

Education after Redford:

BA Wayne State 1963
MA Eastern University 1973
MA + 40 CEU's Eastern

Military Service - When and Where

Thank to all who did!!!!

Family/Travels/Events:

My husband had a small company, being self employed, we couldn't afford the time or the money to get away. Our home was and still is our vacation. We live on 2 acres on a lake, with 170 feet of lake frontage. We have had the same address and phone numbers for 40 years. Our children say our home is the only stable thing in their lives, since the have all moved several times.
In 1996 we tore down the old farm house and built a home comfortable enough to retire in.

We love our pontoon and enjoy swimming laps when weather permits. In 07, we were able to swim in the lake until Oct. 8. I don't think the ice will be off by that time this year. Burrrrrr!

We to a lot of entertaining, which we greatly enjoy. In the summer we have evening church services 3-6 times, with about 100 people attending.

We are very involved with our church. We both sing in the choir, and Rog in a Gospel group. We are very involved with the Jesus Walk, 4 evenings in Dec. (this was our 22 year) We are in charge of costumes. We host a couples Bible Study in our home, with 12 couples, for soup and salad. Rog is in a men's study that meets at 6 a.m. on Fridays, the ladies are A LOT SMARTER, we meet at 9:30.

The past 3 years we've enjoyed being part of the Hartland Senior Center, at the old Hartland High School. They have both a men's and ladies choral, under the direction of a retired Farmington teacher. I am way out of my comfort zone, but have learned so much. We have a lot of fun and even put on shows. The center must earn 1/3 of their own support, so in Oct. we put on 3 shows for over 2000 people. This year's it was a spoof on the 50's, SHABOOOOOOM, Those Wonderful Years. We also do performances for assisted living centers, and etc. There were skits, pop-ups, singing, and even tap dancers. I made 10 poodle skirts for the singers.

When we first retired we took a 6 week trip west, but most of our travel is visiting children or going to the family condo on Perdido Key, between Pensacola and Gulf Shores.

States/Countries:

FENTON, MICHIGAN forever

Do you spend part of the year at another address?

We have a family condo on the beautiful white beaches of Perdido Key, FL. In 2004 Ivan did his thing. Who would have guessed you would need flood insurance on the 6th. floor. Anyway the building was gutted to the cement floors and ceiling and completly rebuilt. Three and a half years later we are finally in. We usually go for 2 weeks in Oct. and the end of Feb. and March.
Thankfully it is up and running. Check it out
