June and I double-dated once--to the senior prom in our sophomore year.

What great excitement. What fun we had. She will be 15 forever in my memory.

I have delayed this painful writing long enough!  June and I met during kindergarten days and were best friends through eighth grade.  June graduated from Harding, January, 1955, entered Redford and left me behind!  Ha  Thinking back, it's amazing how that half year made such a difference.  June suddenly had a different schedule and began making new friends, and I was still following the routine of our grade school.  If we had not lived in the same neighborhood, we may not have seen each other, but since we were living so close, it was just a quick walk for either of us.  Soon I was attending Redford (the best high school) and we were sharing life on the same level once again.

As 'good luck.' would have it, when we met and married our husbands, they were immediately drawn to each other like brothers.  Next came the years I'd love to write a book about, the laughter of good times, the sharing of sad ones, everyone enjoying good health, delicious food, great music, beautiful babies, vacations, etc.

June became a widow in 2008 and during our weekly phone calls, I did my best to encourage her to attend Redford's 50th reunion coming in 2009.  Her children and I decided she was suffering with severe depression over Don's death which made her not ready for such a gathering.

Eventually the real problem became apparent when June was diagnosed with Lewy bodies dementia. Our phone calls continued, but June would just cry a lot and yet beg me to call her again, which I definitely did.  In time she was not able to communicate or even hold the phone.  God was merciful and took her Home for all eternity.

I believe a reunion has taken place that she gladly attended, one where Don and Larry, our parents and more were already enjoying.  When I get there, am sure one will say:  "Hey Linda, what took you so long!?"  R.I.P. My dear friend.  Love always, Linda
