Nick came to Pitcher Elementary in the eighth grade and immediately bonded with his classmates.
While I rarely saw him up close at Redford, I did see him play baseball.
And I did see Linda Emery wearing his letter jacket one day.

We went to different universities, but still lived with our parents in the same neighborhood just blocks apart. The year after I graduated we spent some time together. I was honored my grade school hero became friends with me.
He was truly a good person.

A decade later he called my parents just to say hello and remember old times. They were thrilled he thought of them and the baklava we all had made together. He told them about his son growing up, and how they talked together about his (Nick's) younger years. We always remember the warm and gentle man he was.

I give heartfelt condolences to his wife and son.
And to his friends who miss him so much.

Nick was a classmate of mine from elementry school through high school. He was a baseball player at Redford. HE was an avid hunter and fisherman and likedthe great outdoors. Nick worked as an electrical contractor up to his death. ONE thing Nick liked doing was going up north, and being with family and friends. Nick's nickname was "the Greek". I'm sure you new who he was-he had a strong presence. We miss him dearly and will remember him always.

Although Nick was not a close friend of mine during our high school days, I shared many classes with him, and he was always some one you could talk to and was very easy going.
I never saw Nick after graduation, but he was one of those classmates that I think everyone would think of if Redford High School was part of the conversation.
Funny thing is when Nick signed my yearbook he said; "Ken, Glad we're finally getting through here. If we make it you know why." Now I know it had something to do with physics class that we had with Mr. Blasyk, but for the life of me I can't remember what.
I will miss not seeing Nick at the reunion, he was one of the good guys.
