Sheldon Segel
1941 - 2022
Winter Garden, Florida - Sheldon Segel, age 80, died January 15, 2022, in Florida, where he had been residing since 1975. A native of Detroit, Shel was born in 1941 to Harry and Jean Segel. He served his country in the U.S. Army and later graduated from the Detroit College of Law. He is survived by his two children, Jennifer Berins (Bruce Graham) of Winter Garden, FL and Melissa Segel (Greg Houlihan) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Amanda (Gil Levy) of Winter Garden, FL, Jessica of Winter Garden, FL, and Lillian Houlihan of Atlanta, GA; and great-grandchild Gavin Levy. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved the outdoors and animals. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all, Shel will be greatly missed. A celebration of life with his immediate family is being planned.

I was so sad when I discovered Shel had passed. I’d just wished him a Happy Birthday on the Redford site and shared my desire to hear from him again, or at least more often. He was such a fun guy … and always a gentleman.
After the Army, he went into law. I believe his youngest daughter did too (?)
I remember in one of his emails he excitedly told me all about the fantastic birthday celebration he had in London that particular year.
