John “Jack” Munshaw, 71 of Gaylord died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Gaylord Tendercare.  Jack was born August 17, 1941 in Detroit, the son of Wesley Carl & Ann (Nowalk) Munshaw.  
 
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and later worked for his father’s business, Guardian Manufacturing in Livonia.  
 
On Sept. 16, 1972 in Royal Oak he married Sylvia Jean Deason.  They moved to Grayling and opened Milltown Meats & Deli.  Sometime later, they made Gaylord their home, where Jack worked in the tool and die industry for Mark One.  After a number of years, Jack became an independent contractor; building and remodeling homes.  
 
He was a member of the Home Builder’s Association and proudly built a home of his own.
 
An avid golfer, he had a passion for the outdoors and loved spending his free time hunting and fishing or reading a good book.  He was also thankful for being a 10-years kidney transplant survivor.
 
Jack leaves behind his loving his wife, Sylvia, his son Wes (Katie) Munshaw and their new-born daughter, Kaylee, his deceased sister’s son, Shawn Sleder and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda Sleder.
 
FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 12:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev. Ken Bernthal officiating.  Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home will take place on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 3pm-7pm and on Saturday at the church from 10AM until the time of services.
