July 12, 1941 - February 18, 2021

Gwynn Kania, 79 of Rochester, MI passed peacefully alongside family on February 18, 2021 of natural causes. Beloved wife of the late Richard Kania for more than 50 incredible years, Gwynn was blessed with a wonderful life. Gwynn was very proud of her two children and took pride in being a grandmother to her seven grandchildren. Loving mother to Scott (Stacy) and Jeffrey (Christine). Very proud and loving grandmother to Logan, Lindsay, Drew, Laurel, Bryce, Liam and Chase. Aunt to Karen and the late Bobby Golding. Preceded in death by her parents, Gwynford and Verna Mae Golding and brother Robert (Deaun) Golding.

Gwynn was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 12th, 1941. She spent most of her adult life raising her family in Troy, Michigan before retiring to Madeira Beach, Florida. She attended Redford High School (‘59) in Detroit before heading to Michigan State University (‘63) where she became a lifelong Spartan fan and member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Upon graduation she worked for General Motors and later for the Troy School District. Her love for Michigan State sports was unrivaled. She also enjoyed boating, playing cards and socializing with friends. Her defining quality was she loved to be around people and her kindness will live on forever. She will be missed by all, but memories with those she touched will live on. Rest in peace and goodbye to a great mom and grandmother.

The family will receive friends on March 19, 2021 11:30 am at St. Andrew Catholic Church (1400 Inglewood, Rochester, Michigan), followed by a memorial mass at 12:00 pm. Due to current Covid restrictions at this point we will be unable to host a luncheon afterwards.
