Wayne Howard Brummel
September 8th, 1941 — July 3rd, 2013
Wayne Howard Brummel, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away after a brief hospitalization at Exempla Good Samaritan Hospital and brief stay at TRU Community Care Center in Louisville, Colorado. He passed peacefully on the morning of July 3, 2013 with his family at his side. He was 71 years old.
Wayne was born September 8, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, the first son of the late Beverly and Howard Brummel. He was the oldest brother to Craig and Mark Brummel. He graduated from Redford High School in 1959 and attended Ferris State University in Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy, and worked aboard the USNS Rose Knot, a tracking ship for the Gemini and Apollo space missions. He enjoyed his time “down range”, and had many stories to share about his experiences.
On August 30, 1969, Wayne married Janet Prostak, and they remained happily married until his death. They raised two loving children, Catherine and David. Wayne worked for Storage Technology Corporation in Michigan and transferred to Colorado in 1982 where he became an instructor. He truly felt that the move to Colorado was one of the best decisions he ever made for the family, giving them many opportunities in the beautiful state of Colorado.
Wayne was indescribably proud of his six beautiful grandchildren: Owen, William, Cael, and Nolan, sons of David and his wife Lisa Giuliani, of Mahtomedi, MN, and Tyler and Logan, the son and daughter of Catherine and her husband Randy Adams of Lafayette, CO.
He maintained a relaxed lifestyle after his retirement, finding happiness in time spent with family and friends, eating, talking, laughing, and babysitting in both Minnesota and Colorado. He enjoyed computers, often sharing interesting websites with his family and friends. He very much enjoyed trips to his beloved Colorado Mountains.
His memory will be cherished by his wife Janet, his children Catherine and David and their families, and his two brothers.
