Being a January Graduate, our prom was held at the Masonic Temple's Crystal Ballroom. My grade school buddies and I made a promise to attend the prom. Of course I was the only one to attend. My date was a girl from Redford Union High. Her name was Carolyn Ziembiec and a junior at the time. The reasons for me attending the prom with a girl from another high school are too numerous to tell at this time, but I will gladly tell anyone who might want to know at the reunion. (ha-ha) I thoroughly enjoyed the prom (see footnote in my profile) and was glad I attended. Ken Barna

My wonderful date for the prom was Glen Kett.  I've been watching for him to 'get aboard' this marvelous site, but so far...no Glen !!!  Just for fun, I want to ask Glen if he remembers 'the hour' he got me back home that MORNING?  (wink)  I remember, and so does my Mother!  Ha-ha

Maynadene Mackenzie fixed me up with a blind date, a childhood friend of hers four years older than we were--a college man--Marty Centala whom I married eight years later.

We remained friends with Maynadene until her death from brain cancer sometime in the '70s.  We last visited her months before her death, but I cannot remember the year!

I remember the senior prom very well.  I went with Loring Stanhope and had a wonderful time.  I remember the big band music and dancing and just enjoying.  We went out to the lake afterward with Nellie and her sister and thier dates, and got home after the sun came up.  What a good time!!!

The Senior Prom was full of fascinating surprises.  John Fletcher took Carol Hawley and I took Lois Blackburn.  The four of us went to the prom together.  I will describe just one of these events.  I drove the family 1956 Chevy Bel Air & managed to get a ticket on the way downtown.  The ticket was for taking an expressway exit on the Woodward ramp when a sign said not to do so.  There was very little traffic so at the time it did not seem dangerous, but the policeman was correct in giving me the ticket.  I really worried about this during the prom, as you can imagine.  I was required to go to the traffic court for youthful offenses with my father.  We were sandwiched in between other young people who had done really bad stuff.   There were careless, reckless, drunk and otherwise quite severe offenses.  Licenses were being suspended as I waited with my dad for my name to be called.  After listening to my story of what my offense was & freely admitting my guilt, the judge gave my license to my father and said I needed to ask my dad any time I wanted to drive for the next 30 days.  For years afterwards that sign "Do Not Exit Via the Woodward Ramp" brought back unusual memories.
