Hi Betty, We are almost neighbors, Kentucky and Tennessee. How about a brunch, lunch or whatever on Saturday before the evening party for the Holcomb crew. I heard from Garry Thornley and he is interested. Perhaps we can get anyone from Holcomb together that day. Any suggestions? Cindy

I have tried to put together a list of the teachers and,of course, principal at Holcomb, but I need help. We never had to write the teachers names that I remember so the spelling may be off and I can't remember all of them (even as I mentally walk the halls). Please help me complete the list or correct the spelling of their names. Pansy Kilander, principal, Sadie Netsword, assistant principal, Miss Wise Kindergarten, Mrs. Tipton 1st grade, Mrs. Richardson (Richards?) 2nd grade, Miss Friedman 3rd grade, Miss Ash 3rd grade, Mrs Sailor, Mrs La Rouch,and Mrs. Cunningham (what grades did they teach? It was Mrs.C who always called us "Honey, Bunny, Boo." Mr. Dietrich 7th grade, Mrs Flanders 8th grade. Mrs. Hanson Home Ec, Mr. Tiede Shop, Mrs Humphries singing (my vote for worst teacher at Holcomb), Miss Botato Gym, Mrs Sutherland Science lower grades, Mr. Gale Science upper grades, Miss Scott Social Studies lower grades, Who taught Social Studies upper grades?, or who taught Art, library, or auditorium? What did we do in auditorium? What Have I missed? Joan

ms. netzorg, asst. princ., music was ms. humphrey?, what did ms. levin teach (2nd?), ms. larouche=auditorium....with miss wolfe?, ms. bay taught art, gym was also ms. salvadore, mr. karpinski taught clarinet (part-time?)

I now have both Ball and Bay as names for the Art teacher and Mrs. Hill as the Library teacher. We may have the whole list before the reunion. Joan

Hi Joan, I'm with you concerning Ms. Humphries. I think she may have either been really ill or suffered from migraines. She was always taking meds and leaving the room, letting us copy sheet music. To this day I don't know what a note is or means (unfortunately I never learned this anywhere else) and they pay me not to sing!

Joan, this picture is hilarious. I recognize everyone in the lower row but don't know those in the top two. Can you identify them? What was the occasion? bj

Dear Bette Jo, Go to the link I posted above the photo one or two messages and there are more photos and all the names I can remember. Ken put one one photo on this site for me, I can't figure out how to put them on the Holcomb site and they wouldn't mean anything to those who did not go to Holcomb. The pictures are of our third grade class, the brownie troop, the girl scout troop (#136), and the hall guards (I think). Joan

Hi Joan, Some of the missing: Miss Freedman's class - Harold Staley. Same class, other photo: Charles Bowen is Bowman. I knew him as George Bowman. Holcomb Troop 136: Yes, Sharon Gulick. Hall Guards betwen you and Judy Peck - Sylvia Rutkowski?. Brownie Troop - yes, Suzanne Henry. Gary Wilson and Mike Reising - you've got to see these! bj

There were two Bowman boys (and maybe more) I remember both George and Charles. I don't think that is Sylvia Ruhkowski next to me in the photo of Hall Guards, but I don't know who it is. Mike has looked at these photos, but Gary has not as far as I know. Joan

Does anybody really know where Holcomb Elementary is located...was/is it somewhere in the Detroit Pub. Schools? Word has it..that it's not there anymore..just a memory,faaaaaaaaaadeing into the paaaaaaast!

HOLCOMB lives on but poor old RHS home of the Huskies is DEAD DEAD DEAD. I hate  to think it but there might have been some cheering from that other schools grads.

garry:  i'm not sure if the picture was taken during our 8th grade year, but everyone in the picture is in the class of 6/55.  it would be great if someone can remember who's not (like you) in the picture. it sure is a great picture though, don't youi think?  i can't remember who put it into the system.  

p.s. -- garry:  congratulations on your BU terriers winning the ncaa hockey championship tonight.  one of the best college games ever.  i missed the winning goal (OT) while typing the above post, dammit.

A thriller of a hockey game.  Miami Ohio has to be heart broken. Seeing as how I am big ten and CCHA guy I was disapointed.

Did you see the winning goal replay? A stinker!

Hi Mike,

Yes, You will know after everyone has been notified and has responded. So far 11 classmates are coming, not including their spouses.  Cindy has had replies from those 11, I am currently contacting others.  Hopefully we will know (approximately) by the end of June.

bob angevine told me via email a couple of days ago that he informed cindy that he was coming.........are there two lists?  and did anyone send an individual email announcement of our get-together directly to the email address of all available holcomb classmate email addresses.  how many holcombites have checked 'yes' for the main rhs event?      mike

Hi Mike,

I am delighted to hear Bob Angevine will be coming.  To answer your question, there is one main list and Cindy has it.  She forwarded a copy to me and I posted it as you requested.  She contacted most of our classmates and is still waiting for answers from them.  She sent me a list of those she was unable to contact and I am contacting those.  As we are not comparing or posting the list on a daily basis there will be some lag.  Unfortunately, many people do not look at their e-mail very often.
