The word is WORD. Women of Redford in the DC area, are meeting for lunch--again. Three of us met this summer. Five of us will meet later in October or early November. Our first meeting was at Clyde's in Tyson's Corner. I'm proposing we meet at a different Clyde's each time, starting this autumn at the original in Georgetown.

this is just a cc of an email i sent to thornley recently.... my sentiments in general... i hope garry doesn't mind
**************************************************
garry... if our dinner table at the banquet had been the entire reunion, i would
have been filled with all the wondeful memories i need. it was truly great
seeing you again... almost goosebumpy. to say that the total reunion was a
"once in a lifetime" experience is an uderstatement extraordinaire. it seemed
to me, in certain moments, that we were in some big hollywood movie...
entertaining the rest of the world. what a fabulous 50+ year history of the
best of america. i love you guys and thank god that you could be in my life.
i wish you the best of everything as we continue down this bumpy friggin road...
with its hills and dales and pot-holes. hugs ("manly" hugs) forever, mike
Vegas is a great idea. Downtown is less expensive, no car rental needed and if anyone wants to go to the strip they can easily get there by bus. In downtown Vegas (in case you haven't been there) there is a covered area to walk around in, with lots of activities and not the crowds like on the strip. Have been to Vegas some 60 times or more in the last 30 years. Have never been on a cruise which sounds fun too.
Great job everyone. The reunion exceeded my wildest expectations. As for the next one, the sooner the better. I would be partial to the idea of a cruise. Larry and Joan Woodcox are experts on this venue having been or 25 or 26. Maybe they could be recruited as technical advisors? In the meantime, I'll kick back and enjoy the rest of the New Hampshire fall foliage.

What a great time. Thanks to all who worked so hard to find people and plan such a fun weekend and to all that hosted events. I would be up for a cruise or having events in various parts to the US as well and sooner the better. I didn't attend the Cooke mini event because I didn't know about it and several others didn't know about it either but thanks to those who planned it anyway. Pam Thompson
Absolutely loved the reunion and a special thanks to the search committe, too. I requested that they try to find one of my very best friends in school after I had looked for her for 40 years. They found her eventhough she didn't attend the reunion, I can now talk with her at anytime.
Another reunion in 5 years is really the best thought yet. Ten years is too long!!!!
Everyone involved in the process did such a wonderful job with EVERYTHING!!
great reunion and i think with the great website we have we should plan to meet every five years until ther is only two classmates to say a prayer for those who made ther last reunion upstairs. a great job and i would only say thanks to all who attended. david alan clow(:)(:)(:)tm
I would also like to thank those who set up a fantastic reunion and website. I enjoyed the Friday night get together and the Saturday trip to the Cider Mill in Parshalville. I enjoyed the Saturday nite party but unfortunately, I sat way in the back and couldn't see all the upfront action, I did manage to catch Stultzies performance by standing up to watch. I didn't have to worry about blocking anybody's view as Iwas thaat far back in the room. I didn't get to talk to everyone but it was great meeting old friends and making some new friends. It is truly a great class. I find it had to believe that 50 years have gone by. It's to bad that such a great school has been shut down I hope there is a provision to reopen the school if the population of Detroit ever gets back to where there is the need for it to reopen.
Just wanted to thank the entire committee for planning the great reunion weekend. Looking forward to the next one--five years is best---10 years too long.
We would be up for a cruise or a trip to Vegas, if the planned time worked for us.
Again, thanks Ken for keeping this website up and running. It will be great to stay in touch with those who did and didn't attend.
"I did manage to catch Stultzie's performance by standing up to watch."
Linda says: My RED HAT chapter wants it to be the entertainment at our Christmas party! Ha-ha I do hope it shows well on the DVD I ordered, cause they're not getting a live performance! That was special for you my wonderful RHS 1959 classmates. XO
Dave Clow suggested we should meet every 5 years until there's only 2 classmates left to say a prayer for those who made their last reunion 'upstairs'. Well now, that's a fine idea, Dave, but do remember ... it's John Herrold and I who have 'practiced' and know how to do it, right John?
Speaking of John, I'll say right now, I 'think' I'd have a better opportunity of attending something in Michigan, than I would Arizona, but then I wouldn't want this reply to carry any real weight, for what if I couldn't be there when the time came anyway? That's the unknown part, but then that's life, and none of us ever really knows for sure what our futures hold.
Judy Morse, Pam Rea, Barb Sargent and I agree: Every person on any committee and those who were not even on a committee, but who helped committee people, along with all those who simply came and enjoyed the weekend, to all I say THANK YOU. It took every single one of us to make our 50th as memorable as we all know it was. However, and here I go again, but without Ken Kelsey giving us this fantastic reunion site, we would never be able to continue, enlarge upon, grow in, or in fact, establish new...the friendships that we have, due to this site.
May God bless you and yours really big, Ken, and I for one doubt I'll ever be able to stop thanking you.
The reunion was wonderful along with this website Ken Kelsey manages. Some of the previous posts suggested ideas of mini regional gatherings in addition to another major one in maybe five years. These are both good ideas. We had two Arizona Mini Reunions in February, 2010. See Post #18 below.
The following short video is sunrise over Desert Peak near Red Rock Arizona just after the Vernal Equinox. It is where we have our little observatory & held one of the Arizona gatherings.
It was wonderful to see everyone - wish it could have gone on all week! Yes, five years would be good. I'd go anywhere for another one if the time was right and I was able. I've never been to Vegas, which would be cheaper.and I think more people could attend. We just returned from a 2 week cruise which I think is #26 or 27 and I'd love another one.
There were two mini regional gathering in Arizona on Friday & Sunday, February 19th & 21st, 2010. Some details may be found at the following forum site.
I sure hope that somebody takes many photos of the Arizona reunions, and posts them for all to see! We'd love to sit and talk with you, but you moved so far away. Now that it is winter in Michigan...y'all are the smart ones...however, I see that it is raining lots in that part of the country. Let us know if you have icy streets! Bonnie Barzler Huibregtse
The Arizona Mini Reunions were so much fun. Somebody did say something about Las Vegas. I know nothing about Vegas other than it is fun to go there even though I do not gamble. So if there is some RHS 59 Graduate who can get behind that task this would be welcome.
Some of the pictures you asked for may be found by clicking on CLASSMATE OUTINGS (top left of this page).
I've noticed someone else besides Steve Stockmeyer and Louise (Hindley) Jackson who attended the MI football game last year. It was Eileen M. Schellman (Stewart). It's great seeing she's gotten aboard our wonderful site.
